NAET for Skin Disorders
Skin disorders are a common and frustrating health concern with a wide variety of symptoms and disease patterns that present differently in every sufferer.
Skin is the largest organ in the human body, with an area covering roughly 20 square feet, charged with the job of protecting against and sensing your environment. Skin health reflects internal health and is therefore worthy of attention and care.
The therapy I most often employ to treat skin conditions for my patients is Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Techniques (NAET). Allergies, sensitivities, and intolerances to ingested, inhaled, or contacted substances that provoke an abnormal immune system response are often responsible for dermatitis, rashes, hives, itching and more profound immune system derangements like psoriasis, and lupus. NAET has offered symptomatic and impressive results in many conditions, even after decades of suffering.
What is the cause of your symptoms? NAET and acupuncture deal with energy blockages and imbalances in the body’s energetic circulation caused by many factors:
Inherited conditions
Allergies and sensitivities
Toxins
Lowered immune function due to stress, illness, emotional injury
Malabsorbtion disorders
Infections
A few case studies:
A patient came to me recently with eczema affecting his hands and feet for many decades. After one treatment, using NAET to treat for a sensitivity to grains, his eczema cleared up completely, much to his delight! For some, NAET works this fast, while some people need several treatments to completely address their skin problem.
A nurse was experiencing severe contact dermatitis to latex gloves used in her work, causing much pain and annoyance. After treatment with NAET for latex she could touch gloves and other instruments without reacting.
As a teenager, my daughter had annoying tiny blisters on her fingertips. She was found to be reacting to coffee. After treatment, the blisters healed and she had no more even when drinking coffee once again.
A woman, who had always had severe reactions to poison ivy and oak, has found that after NAET treatments she can be exposed without developing a reaction to these substances that had previously needed steroidal treatments to manage the reaction.
Allergies to jewelry are common due to the gold, nickel, and other metal content. After wearing her wedding ring for 15 years, a 37 year old woman developed blisters and crusting where her gold ring touched her skin. After one treatment with NAET for gold metal she could wear her ring comfortably again with no reaction.
A friend of mine developed chronic idiopathic hives after an immunization. Life was miserable for her. After many NAET treatments for basic vitamins, food groups, chemical components of vaccines, and environmental elements she is once again comfortable in her skin and hive free.
NAET is a fascinating and effective treatment for acute, chronic, and frustrating skin disorders in children and adults alike. It’s an absolute delight for me, as a practitioner, to solve these painful and frustrating problems, for my patients. Using kinesiology, muscle response testing, we can isolate the substance causing the problem and then treat using NAET, systematically dialing down the disordered immune response.

NAET: Living well with Fibromyalgia
The Fibromyalgia struggle
If you are one of the 6% of Americans who struggle with fibromyalgia, you know intimately, the debilitating effects of this “invisible” disease. Struggling to keep up with your family, job, friends, and the life you want while trying to navigate the choices available for treating your symptoms can be overwhelming.
Sometimes you find yourself giving up rewarding life experiences because you expect to have greater pain as a consequence of being active. Health care providers and people in your life may brand you as hypochondriac because you “look fine”. Perhaps your medications have more side effects than you can comfortably live with. I’d like to tell you about a natural approach you may not have heard of or considered before.
Fibromyalgia and Traditional Chinese Medicine
We come into the world with a constitution inherited from our parents. This means we have strengths and weaknesses biologically that cause imbalances in our system. Each of us ends up with a unique set of symptoms when, due to influences inside of us and in our environment, the imbalances become so pronounced that they manifest as a disease. Yin and Yang are used to illustrate the dance of opposites and interaction of forces in ones physiology.
Fibromyalgia has abnormal neurotransmitter/receptor patterns manifesting as pain, insomnia, and depression. Studies show that acupuncture may alter brain chemistry, restoring the balance between the forces of yin and yang, leading to a reduction in symptoms. Chinese medicine theory brings unique insight to the myriad symptoms, all of which are taken into consideration, when designing your treatment plan.
What does NAET contribute to Fibromyalgia treatment?
Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Techniques (NAET) are based on the theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Illness is a warning that gives us signs of energetic disturbances within our bodies. The brain, through spinal nerves, operates an amazing communication network. Energetic disturbances anywhere in this system will manifest as nervous, circulatory, gastrointestinal, urinary, muscle or reproductive symptoms. These disturbances also lead to a debilitating drain on the energy available for normal activities of daily life.
NAET can remove the blockages in the energy pathways and restart normal energy circulation. This will, in turn, help the brain to coordinate with the rest of the body to function optimally. As one progresses through the treatments, most often systemic improvements in energy, sleep, and pain reduction are observed. Dr. Devi, the founder of NAET, notes that fibromyalgia is very often allergy/sensitivity related, foods, chemicals, and environmental. We have seen phenomenal results using the NAET method to reduce and eliminate patients suffering. Please refer to this page on what an NAET treatment involves. https://whitecraneacu.com/what-is-naet/
If you are looking for a different way to heal
“Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced” -James Baldwin. One of the most pervasive myths about Fibromyalgia is that it isn’t treatable. Many of its symptoms can be treated and reduced using the techniques outlined here.
I have helped patients on their way to healing using both acupuncture and NAET. Both methods can be used concurrently with the program prescribed by your medical doctor. Counseling on herbal medicine, diet and exercise according to Chinese Medicine principles, as well as identifying emotional components to assist your journey towards health are used as appropriate. I look forward to being a partner in your quest for vibrant health!

Oriental medicine will help you beat your cold this winter!
Are you one of those people that seems to catch every cold or bug that comes around? Have you known the people who literally seem to NEVER get sick? As you have probably suspected, some people really are more susceptible in this way. From the Chinese medicine perspective, everyone has a pre-existing balance and state of immunity. We would say your defensive Qi was weakened and overcome by a pathogen (virus). If you go to an acupuncturist you will hear that you have a wind, heat or cold condition! There are things you can do to make yourself, your Qi, stronger and less prone to catching all those virus’s this winter.
You protect your body’s Qi by dressing warmly, protecting your feet, legs, low back, neck from the cold and wind. It requires a lot of your energy to keep warm, so help yourself out.
Get as much sleep and rest as you can. Go to bed by 10pm if possible. Your adrenal glands will thank you. Reduce stress if possible. Emotional stress is as damaging to qi as excessive physical stress! Do what you need to do, talk to someone, meditate, pray, spend time doing what you enjoy.
Optimize your diet for the season! You know how eating a salad or watermelon just isn’t as satisfying in the winter? You need warming foods at this time of year, cooked foods in general, not raw. Choose oatmeal over cold cereal, and things like stews and tea over things that hinder the smooth function of digestion like sugar, wheat products, excessive dairy, and cold beverages.
Of course visit your acupuncturist if your Qi is in a state that makes you a victim of sickness! Acupuncture and herbal therapies are effective in rebuilding the strength of your body’s processes.
So you caught a cold.
If you are coming down with something, here are a few tips to start treating it effectively from the start…
You feel that itchy throat, headache, and sniffle. A tried and true strategy to encourage your immune system is to SWEAT at the beginning of the attack. Make a tea or soup using green onions, ginger, and chicken if you like. Peppermint tea is best for sore throats with fever. Cinnamon for shivering and a bit of sweating. Have it hot and go to bed with tons of blankets, or have a soak in the tub. Our family loves Pho, a wonderful Vietnamese soup, for this purpose! Don’t forget to drink fluids to replace your sweating.
If you have a lot of phlegm avoid foods that encourage its formation… dairy, sugar, wheat products and fried foods. Ginger tea is a good choice.
ACUPUNCTURE! As a profession we have many ways to help you beat the cold at an early stage to prevent it getting worse and lodging in your chest or causing other upheaval with you health. Cupping, qua sha, tuina, herbs and acupuncture all help! Anti-viral herbs available at your appointment!
Massage the tender spots on either side of your nose and along the underside of your cheekbones to encourage your sinus cavities to empty.
With some self care you can have a much better winter this year!

Achieving your health goals this year
We love to make new goals, dream a little, feel the excitement of what we can become! The New Year is a natural and perfect momentary pause to take stock of where we are in our journey in relationships, career, and the subject that affects literally everything about you… HEALTH!
Good health means you can enjoy life! Has your health improved from where you were a year ago? Maybe you find yourself setting the same wishful goals year after year, but when you look back you have lost steam or focus in achieving your well meaning plan. Doing the same thing year after year will deliver the same results unfortunately. Different results will require a different perspective and perhaps looking into how you define what real health encompasses.
“The part can never be well unless the whole is well.” -Plato
As an acupuncturist, I’ve been taught to take in the functioning of the WHOLE system of the person I’m evaluating. I don’t see just the knee pain, just the headache, or just the eczema on someones elbow. Those are the surface manifestations, tip of the iceberg, showing that there is some larger dysfunction going on at the foundational level of a person’s physiology. My goal is for the person’s entire health outlook to improve so that health manifests in every corner of their body and mind. To comprehensively address this goal, certain questions must be asked:
1. What can I ADD to my life or body to achieve ______________?
You may want to add a supplement, a food group, herbal remedies, more exercise, or more sleep! The addition of new elements to your health regimen can be fun, expensive, and make huge differences or none at all. Do your homework and don’t believe everything you read on the Internet! Check with people who have demonstrated wisdom in the past and have been down the path you are traveling! Deficiencies in nutrients can create a host of problems that show up physically and mentally. Your genetics or diet may play a role in this. Supplementing wisely can be a valuable way to address a problem!
2. What should I TAKE AWAY from my life or body to achieve _____________?
This can be even more important than the first question. There may be something, an activity or substance, that is holding you back, hurting you, making your goal difficult if not impossible to achieve because the presence of the offending substance is so strongly negative for you. We can get a bit myopic in examining ourselves and habits. An example could be your morning venti caramel macchiato! “Yes” you say, “I have acid reflux, restless leg syndrome, I’m gaining weight, etc. But I CAN’T go without my morning treat!”. These sacred, unassuming, but destructive patterns, in all their variations, must be recognized and attended to in your goal setting! Then the work of unraveling the hidden rewards and pain tied up in those habits can begin. It’s worth it!
3. Do I need help or advice to be successful in achieving my health goal?
Sometimes a new outside perspective on our problem is what’s needed. When my own health came crashing down about 10 years ago, I had to look for solutions outside of what was in front of me at the time. It took courage to go outside of my comfort zone and contact a naturopathic doctor and enter the world of Traditional Oriental Medicine and Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Technique (NAET). Even now, I seek out talented professionals who never fail to call my attention to something I need to change but have chosen to ignore because it’s more comfortable to remain in my habits. It may be time for you to venture down a new path to achieve the level of health and functioning you are searching for! Become your own greatest advocate, health detective, and never give up. I’m confident you will find the answers, and wisdom, to achieve your health goals!
